26 August - Update Three
Royal Mail has currently suspended all parcels to America. They have announced that the new tariff costs will be absorbed on my end, and this is a cost that must be reflected in shipping cost. They are amending their website to add these new fees. It is unclear if the 10% fee applies to the cost of the product only, or if it also includes shipping. I won't know until the new system rolls out. Once the system has had a week or so in effect, I will send a few test parcels to the US to see if it runs smoothly and that I've adhered to all of the new punitive nonsense required. I will update in here again once I know what is going on. But to be clear, these costs must be absorbed by the customer at the time of purchase. Nobody is winning here, and the situation is horrible, I can only do what I can do. And thank my customers for their patience and understanding about an unfair situation that has blindsided us all. Thank you.
15 August - Update Two
US parcel shipping is still suspended until all of this dust settles. Royal Mail has finally issued some advice, which suggests they might be able to avoid the $80 fee being paid by US customers. However, they're suggesting this tariff will have to be collected by me, on my end. If this model moves forward, when US shipping resumes there will now be an added tariff to your costs. In theory, this will be 10% of the parcel value (not including shipping). 10% is specific to the UK agreement, and all my products are manufactured here so there are no other components from other countries to worry about.
In theory, the proposed situation then looks like this:
You spend £40 on a tarot deck.
You need to then pay an additional £4 for the US 10% Tariff during the checkout process.
Shipping is £14.25 - £16 (depending on weight) tracked to the US, and is added on top.
I am not increasing the cost of my decks. However, I can not pay the thousands of pounds it would cost me to absorb US Tariffs, and this has to be absorbed by the customer.
None of this is set in stone yet. This situation is constantly evolving, and I will be looking at all of my options, including using other carriers. At the moment, my shop is set to open back up in September. Whether or not I can resume shipping to the US at that point is uncertain. I will update here as and when I know anything. And I really appreciate everyone's patience and understand on this situation, which has been a shock to everyone. Thank you.
8 August - Update One
All of my shipping to the US is being temporarily suspended as of the 8th of August 2025.
Americans used to be able to buy products from overseas that had a value under $800 and not pay extra fees upon delivery. That has been abruptly changed, with no notice, by an Executive Order signed by Trump on July 30th, 2025 which removes this long-standing de minimis exemption for shipments valued under $800. From August 29th 2025, all parcels sent to the United States will now be subject to duties and taxes, regardless of their value. The buyer is responsible for covering these fees.
As of today (8 August), the Order also states that for 6 months this will be an $80 fee per overseas parcel regardless of the parcel’s value. Eighty dollars. Eighty. To pick up something you’ve already purchased and paid shipping for. The Order also says that after six months this $80 fee stops and reverts to whatever tariff the country of origin has been assigned. For the UK that looks like it will be 10-15%.
Enormous companies like Amazon sometimes have the ability to absorb these costs. I am not Amazon. And like countless other small businesses and sole traders I am being blindsided by this. Americans make up about 90% of my business. This is devastating.
So. Effective immediately, I can not ship to the US. This is a temporary measure until the tariff reverts away from $80 and becomes the standard percentage. All of this could of course change at the drop of a hat, because the current administration is absurdly inhumane and chaotic. I will update this policy in line with changes laid out in the Order as soon as they happen.
This is breaking my heart, and will have a staggering impact on me. I am not alone in this. And America…. if you haven’t registered to vote yet then can I please suggest you do. Vote local, vote national, vote humanity. I hope to be able to ship to you in six months, and ideally sooner. We just have to wait and see.
